Delegation from Central American learns about German energy transition

21 executives from the institutions of the Central American energy market (EOR, CRIE, EPR, SIGET) have participated at a delegation trip of the regional energy program of the German development agency GIZ from 30th of May until 6th of June 2015 to Germany.  The delegation trip was organized and accompanied by Kaltenbach Energy Consulting. In consideration of the strong expansion of renewable energies in the six Central American  countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama) the visit aimed at informing the participants  about the German experience in integration wind and solar power into the transmission an distribution grids. The delegation had meetings with ee energy engineers GmbH, the Federal Agency for Electricity, the Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies, Westnetz GmbH, energy & meteo systems GmbH, Moeller & Poeller Engineering GmbH, saferay GmbH, SMA Solar Technology AG, Enercon GmbH and GridLab GmbH. By transferring the German experiences with the energy transition the regional grid operator EOR, the regional regulatory body CRIE and the owner of the regional grid of the Central American interconnected system SIEPAC became sensitized to the challenges which come along with the expansion of renewable energies. The participants were very satisfied with the gained knowledge and agreed to implement a work process to identify need for action for a better market integration of solar and wind power.
